Mt Pleasant Chook Show

We couldn't resist another visit to a chook show so set off early this morning for Mt Pleasant in the Adelaide Hills. Once again the chook pavilion was absolutely packed with excited people jostling each other aside to be able to get a better view of the available chooks. Oliver, who loves doors and gates, found himself at the ideal height to move up and down the aisles opening the cage doors of the poultry!

We left the show with a very cute little white silkie pullet who looks more like an angora rabbit than a chicken. She is so soft and cuddly and has a very gentle temperament. Both boys love her already.

At the end of our first week of egg-laying we have had five eggs. Mrs Diamond and one of the Isa-Browns is laying. It is such a treat to go to the nesting box and find a warm brown egg waiting.
